A Legacy of Compassion. A Future of Hope.
J L Kapoor Memorial Trust was established in loving memory of Late Shri J. L. Kapoor (24 February 1945 – 5 August 2003)—a visionary leader, compassionate humanitarian, and an extraordinary individual whose life continues to inspire generations through selfless service and unwavering commitment to society.
Born on 24 February 1945 in Lyallpur (now Faisalabad, Pakistan), Shri J. L. Kapoor migrated to New Delhi, India, with his family during the Partition. He completed his education in Delhi before embarking on a distinguished career in the aviation industry. His professional journey enabled him to travel extensively across the globe, exposing him to diverse cultures, people, and perspectives that further strengthened his vision of humanity without boundaries.
His dedication, leadership, and administrative excellence eventually led him to serve as an Advisor to His Excellency, the President of Sri Lanka, in the Ministry of Policy Planning and Implementation. He continued in this prestigious role until the completion of the United Democratic Party (UDP) Government’s tenure. In 1994, he resigned from public service and settled in Gurgaon (now Gurugram), Haryana, India, where he spent the remaining years of his life with his beloved family.
Shri J. L. Kapoor was a man of exceptional character—known for his integrity, humility, discipline, and unwavering belief in the principles of Karma, compassion, and service. He believed that true success is measured not by wealth or position, but by the number of lives one positively touches. His remarkable leadership, respect for every individual, openness to new ideas, and commitment to teamwork earned him admiration wherever he served.
Even during his final days, he displayed extraordinary courage and resilience, fighting every challenge with dignity until he peacefully departed on 5 August 2003, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire countless lives.
Determined to preserve his father’s ideals and lifelong vision of serving humanity, his eldest son, Mr. Amit Kapoor, founded the JL Kapoor Memorial Trust. What began as a heartfelt tribute has today grown into a vibrant humanitarian organization dedicated to carrying forward Shri J. L. Kapoor’s legacy through meaningful social initiatives and community development.
Today, JL Kapoor Memorial Trust stands as a registered, secular, non-profit charitable organization, established under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. Guided by the values of compassion, integrity, dignity, and selfless service, the Trust works tirelessly across multiple areas, including:
